S.C.A.M.P Security's Alarm Receiving Centre (ARC) / Remote Video Receiving Centre (RVRC) is the hub of our operational activities and the key to our services.

Operating to BS5979, the multi role facility encompasses an ARC, RVRC, Technical Support Desk and Manned Guarding Control Room Facility.

ARC

Our Alarm Receiving Centre is a fully secure environment with reinforced walls, quick seal air vents, noxious gas detection and independent two stage power supply comprising an uninterruptible power supply and back up generator. Entry is via an airlock system controlled from within the ARC by the duty staff and a highly restricted list of authorised personnel are only permitted entry once they have been visually identified via CCTV at both stages of the airlock i.e. independently at either door.

Although our ARC principally exists to monitor S.C.A.M.P Security installations, we can also offer third party monitoring to installers without their own ARC or to independent businesses wanting their own alarm system monitoring.

Signalling

The ARC can securely monitor virtually any type of alarm to the highest recognised standards. We can monitor your system via a standard telephone line, paknet radio communication and dual path signalling via dualcom™ or dualcom GSM™. A facility also exists for monitoring via BT Redcare™ or BT Redcare GSM™ via a third party ARC provided that you are connected to a BT exchange. Dual path signalling is rapidly considered the standard for alarm transmission paths and is specified by many insurers. The provision of a second path means that your system can still signal even if the other path fails or is compromised (e.g. telephone line cut) and will advise the ARC of the failure of the other path.

As per DD243 (Code of Practice for the installation and configuration of intruder alarm systems designed to generate confirmed alarm conditions):

Your attention is drawn to the fact that failure or compromise of single path signalling
cannot be passed to the police. While the failure persists, subsequent alarms cannot be
signalled to the alarm receiving centre and passed to the police.

Examples of the types of alarms that we can monitor are:

Intruder Alarms - We can monitor to industry formats such as fastformat and SIA. We are an approved ARC and can pass activations from qualifying systems directly to police control rooms around the country where a URN is held. Confirmation Technology is applied by the use of the activation of one or more sequential (adjacent) zones or by the use of audio verification whereby the system is dialled into and the ARC operator 'listens in' to stored and live audio from several strategically placed microphones in an attempt to ascertain the cause of the activation. Where the operator is able to identify that there is a high probability that an intrusion or attempted intrusion may have taken place then the local police force will be informed.

Resetting of intruder alarms can take place remotely via the ARC where there is a verified cause of activation (unless the activation is due to a break in where an engineer must attend to reset the system).

Fire Alarms - We can monitor your fire alarm 24 hours per day even while you are open for business. We will attempt to contact the premises if open but will inform the fire service immediately if there is no reply.

Personal Attack/ Holdup Alarms - We can monitor your personal attack alarm 24 hours per day and inform the police (or other response such as on-site security) immediately upon receipt of such a signal.

Please note: Our standard policy is to inform the appropriate emergency services in the event of a life saving alarm (fire, PA etc) and not to attempt to contact the premises therefore if you require us to take alternative action such as telephoning the premises then you must put this in writing.

Perimeter/External Alarms - These are passed to the keyholder (such as S.C.A.M.P Security's mobile patrol response service) only and not to the police as they are classified as Type B systems and do not qualify for police response. This type of detection may be more effective when linked to a fastscan CCTV system via our RVRC so that false causes of activation (e.g. rubbish being blown in the wind) can be ascertained and unwanted responses can be avoided.

Plant/Machinery/Environmental Alarms - Virtually any piece of equipment capable of generating an alarm condition and operating a relay can be monitored. An alternative to employing staff to remain on site to monitor equipment such as boilers, coldstores, ph levels etc can be avoided by linking the alarms to our ARC. We will then inform a nominated call out, e.g. duty fitter, when an alarm condition arises.
